brutal-legend-xbox-cover Brütal Legend is the latest game from Tim Schafer, the man behind Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, and The Secret of Monkey Island.

The game story centers on Eddie Riggs, a roadie involved in an unfortunate accident at the start of the game. After the accident, Eddie’s warped to a parallel universe where he’s tasked with saving the world with his rock.

The game is a celebration of classic heavy metal and takes every cheap shot it can at hair metal, nu metal, and other diluted variations on the genre. It’s filled with great humour, for instance while the ultimate evil and its minions are truly terrible monsters, the lesser bad guys are made up to resemble glam rockers or emo kids.

The game contains a mix of genres, from real-time strategy battles where the player commands troops on battlefields made up to look like epic rock concerts to third-person fighting and racing.

Multiplayer mode allows players to play RTS-style battles while leading any of the game’s three factions (including the bad guys). Up to eight people (four on each side) can play on one of the seven maps, each with the simple goal of destroying your opponent’s base.
