PwnageTool 3.0 and other iPhone Dev-Team tools have been released for the iPhone 3.0 Firmware
The iPhone Dev-Team are the developers behind each successive Jailbreak, Activation and Unlock procedure for the iPhone, and most other software-unlock systems make use of their freely-available code and tools.
Jailbreak:
The process of enabling the execution of non-Apple-approved software on an iPod Touch or iPhone.
Activation:
The process of removing software locks that prevent usage of an iPod Touch or iPhone unless the device communicates with Apple’s servers through iTunes.
Unlock:
The process of removing a service provider lock from an iPhone’s modem firmware so it can work on any cellphone operator’s network.
Baseband:
The generic nickname given to the internal components of the iPhone that handle the phone calls and Internet access. This baseband is a tiny and unique independent computer system that runs inside your iPhone; it is separate to the main system that handles the applications and it talks to the main part of the phone over an internal communications network. When a software update is released and presented to you within iTunes the baseband is sometimes updated to fix bugs or add new features. The 3.0 update for the iPhone 3G contains such an update, so running the vanilla updater straight away with iTunes will reprogram and update the baseband.
iPhone Dev-Team Software:
The iPhone Dev-Team currently have several versions of their software available. Before you use any of the tools mentioned below, be sure to read and the associated information on the iPhone Dev-Team’s blog. If you don’t pay attention you might turn your iPhone into an iBrick.
yellowsn0w:
Can be installed via Cydia or Installer.app on an already-Jailbroken and Activated iPhone 3G. Injects a payload at boot or when the iPhone’s baseband is reset to enable a network unlock.

QuickPwn 2.2.5:
Multi-platform application that Jailbreaks and Activates the iPod Touch (Original only), iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G.
Download QuickPwn 2.2.5 for Mac OS X via Bittorrent.
Download QuickPwn 2.2.5-2 for Windows via Bittorrent.
More information on QuickPwn 2.2.5.
PwnageTool 3.0:
By far the easiest-to-use and the most comprehensive of their tools, PwnageTool is only available for Mac OS X. PwnageTool can modify iPhone Firmware Bundles (IPSW files) to build custom installations and can add or remove baseband updates to these packages as needed. Unless you urgently need to Activate or Unlock your device, I strongly recommend that you wait until a compatible version of PwnageTool is released instead of using the other tools.
Jailbreaks and Activates the iPod Touch (Original only), iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G, as well as network-unlocking the iPhone 2G. Should not be used with the iPhone 3G if you rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service (rather wait until ultrasn0w is released and integrated into PwnageTool).
Download PwnageTool 3.0 for Mac OS X via Bittorrent.

Hey there I have a first generation iPhone and I know many people who have this one or the newer 3G/3GS iPhones and have them with t-mobile. I personally have AT&T I jailbroke one of my 2g iPhones a while back using ziphone and it worked great for me. Not sure if I can still use that but my friend wants my old iPhone and has t-mobile, so I’m not sure how to go about getting the Internet and everything working on there. Because when mine was jailbroken and unlocked I stuck the t-mobile simcard in there and t-mobile popped up in the top left hand corner, text worked and calls worked but no Internet. What do I need to do?
hello i have a First generation iphone that is on Firmware 3.0 is there anything i can use yet to jailbreak and unlock it?

Hi Steph
What bittorrent program do you use on your Mac? If you don’t have one, try Transmission.
