GatorPeeps is a new South African microblogging service launched by Afrigator.

After registering for an account, you can follow these instructions to set up a GatorPeeps client on your Mac and iPhone:

Setting up GatorPeeps on your Mac:

Twhirl is a free Adobe Air-based application that will run on OS X, Linux, and Windows.

After downloading, installing and running Twhirl, open settings and add a new “laconi.ca” account. Enter your GatorPeeps username (followed by “@afrigator.com”) and password, then click the “Connect” button.

Setting up GatorPeeps on your iPhone

Nambu is a free iPhone application that can connect to Twitter, Laconica, FriendFeed, Ping.fm, and other social network services.

After searching for Nambu in the App Store, downloading, installing and running it, you will be prompted to set up a Twitter account. Tap “Cancel” if you don’t want to use Nambu for Twitter, then tap the “More” tab at the bottom of the screen.

Tap “Laconica“, then tap the “Setup” button. Enter your GatorPeeps username (not followed by “@afrigator.com”) and password, then change the Hostname to “afrigator.com/api“.

Tap the “Done” button, and Nambu will start displaying your GatorPeeps messages.
