Configuring NTFS read / write support in Mac OS X
Author: willem In: apple, productivity, tips & tricks, tools, unixBy default, Macs running Mac OS X 10.4.* (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5.* (Leopard) can read NTFS drives, but not write to them.
NTFS-3G is a free system bundle that will install MacFUSE (an extension of OS X’s native file handling capabilities) and enable NTFS read/write support on Tiger and Leopard machines.
To set up NTFS-3G, download the NTFS-3G disk image, mount it, run the installer, restart your Mac, and NTFS writing support will be enabled.
NTFS-3G options can be changed on the NTFS-3G Preference Pane the package will install in System Preferences, and NTFS-3G integrates with OS X’s Disk Utility to let you format drives or create Disk Images with the NTFS filesystem.
